
After completing her dream course, Assall Delavaran was faced with a working life that didn't quite live up to her expectations. Assall and her partner Alexander, also a dentist, had ideas about what a dental clinic should look like, and wanted to challenge the norm in an industry that is largely stuck in old traditions. From this, the idea of Dentsmile was born - a dental chain where each clinic is owned and run by dentists, offering good, modern and friendly care at the very best prices.
To make ends meet for the first two years, Assal kept her dental job while she and Alexander ran their own clinic. Today, Dentsmile has grown to four clinics with a multi-million turnover. They were the first in Sweden to launch a franchise concept in dentistry and now aim to take the step abroad and become an international dental chain. The driving force has been to be able to offer fantastic dental care and service at a price that is accessible to everyone.
"We felt so strongly about creating something new that represented what we thought dentistry could be. We had our business idea that we believed in, started thinking about branding and decided to do it ourselves instead."
How has the journey been since the start?
"It's been a rollercoaster, up and down all the time, and we really started from the bottom. You have to be humble and learn to let go of ideas and thoughts you put a lot of energy into. But also to delegate and trust your colleagues and employees. We took a risk and threw ourselves out to try something. But the fact that we dared, that we continue to dare and that we constantly want to improve and learn more is our greatest success and what I am very proud of.


What is the plan for the future?
"We want to be good at growing and developing the organization in order to scale the business. The goal is to increase turnover, confidence in our brand and take a larger share of the industry. Both by developing the franchise concept and by making our own acquisitions."
