Love brought Jeandre Le Roux to Sweden, and love for her native South Africa led her and husband Daniel Ramström to start a business together. Almost ten years later, they are closer than ever and Nordic Strech Tents is growing every year.
How did it all start? What is your take on Froda?
When I moved to Sweden, I wanted to start a business that gave us a connection to, and reason to, go back to South Africa continuously. I noticed that stretch tents were not as common as back home. There was only one small operator in Stockholm and when we contacted him, it turned out that he wanted to sell the business. So we decided to buy the company.
Froda was by far the best deal both in terms of interest rate and loan amount, and because it's so smooth, we've continued to be a customer and borrowed several times.
Why do you think customers choose you?
Customer relationships are very important to us. We don't just throw up a tent and leave. But everything we do beyond that, like styling, and really taking care of our clients and nurturing the relationship with them. That's probably a big reason why a lot of the clients come back to us.
We enjoy working with people. So it comes naturally that we can have a good working relationship with customers while also having fun with them while we work. I think that's what people appreciate most about us. We go the extra mile, both when we're working on site with the tents and when we're interacting with customers.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start their own business and feel worried?
Every time we have taken a risk, we have achieved something. Even if it's been tough along the way, we've been able to learn from it and it's helped us tackle similar problems later on.
You grow with experience and things we saw as big obstacles in the beginning are things we barely reflect on if we're faced with them today.
